55 Genres Challenge

At the moment, this page is under construction. So it looks a little thrown together. I have a list of the completed shorts below. I will make it all a little prettier in the near future.

I wanted to write more short scripts and I tend to work on stories when I think I'd have fun writing them, so I thought it would be fun to attempt to write a short in every genre! Why not? How hard can it be?

So I googled movie genres and found a list of 55. It was actually really lucky because I checked and it turned out if I started writing one short script every 10 days then I would finish the 55th script a day before my 35th birthday.

Hooray for milestones!

So that's what I'm doing. For not obvious benefit other than it amuses me. I thought it might be fun to blog my experience writing through genres once a week. I don't have many rules attached to the challenge except that they are short scripts and that they have to be low or no budget stories. I think it makes it more challenging. For example, my first genre was Disaster movie and it is actually quite hard to think of a really low budget Disaster movie but I think it turned out alright. Teddy Bears contemplating their own mortality during a snowstorm! What's not to love about that?!

So that's my #55Genres challenge. I'll add the list below for anyone interested in seeing what I'm going to be writing through.

And of course if you want to join in, then you should and let me know how you're getting on with it! Think of it as a quantity over quality task. I'm just having fun with it.
